Virginia Backyard Homes is the ADU division of Hearthstone Design Build — a Leesburg-based design·build firm whose portfolio includes Lark Brewing Co., Walsh Family Wine, Tuttaposto.
We started this division because Virginia was about to change. SB 531 — passed in April 2026 and effective July 1, 2027 — makes ADUs legally rentable by-right across the Commonwealth. Every homeowner we talk to wants to know the same three things: is my lot a fit, what does it actually cost, and who can I trust to build it well.
Our founder is a service-connected U.S. Marine Corps veteran. We hold VA Class A Contractor License #2705195817. Our office sits on King Street in Leesburg.
We don't call ourselves the biggest ADU builder in Virginia. We're building to be the most trusted one — one design·build project at a time.
